With a staff of just over 300 and 19 library locations, she is the library’s day-to-day leader and manages the system’s $15 million dollar annual operating budget. Hall reports to a 10-member library board and works closely with the city’s administration to keep them all abreast of ongoing library programs, services, and facility needs.

Hall received a bachelor’s degree from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of Library Service degree from The University of Alabama. Additional training has included completion of the Public Library Association’s (PLA) Boot Camp Management Training, the Smithsonian Institution’s Awards for Museum Leadership, and the Getty Museum Leadership Program. Angela began her work in public libraries after graduation from college. She worked in the Birmingham Public Library System for eight years before spending two years as an assistant professor/reference librarian at Spring Hill College in Mobile (AL). In 2009, she completed sixteen years of service with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute where she served as Vice President of Publications and Special Projects. She was staff liaison for the $6.5 million capital campaign and oversaw a $2.5 million dollar renovation of the facility’s permanent exhibition.
