Wrinkle Visits Five Points West Library to Discuss Her Debut Novel, Wash
Author set to discuss her novel and the photographs which helped inspire it.

Birmingham, Alabama—Birmingham native Margaret Wrinkle has created a masterpiece with her debut novel titled Wash.  The New York Times describes it as “haunting, tender and superbly measured . . .  both redemptive and affirming.” It is the fictional account of a man named Washington or “Wash.” Born into slavery and owned by Revolutionary War veteran General James Richardson, Wash struggles to hold onto his spirituality as Richardson uses him to sire another generation of slaves.

Wrinkle will discuss her novel and the photographs which helped inspire it on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Five Points West Regional Branch Library. She has paired each photograph with a selection from the novel “to give a sense of the story, the characters, and the landscape in which they lived,” she stated. Photographs from the collection will be on display at the library through the middle of May.
