O.V. Hunt photographing 20th Street from a derrick at the Tutwiler Hotel

While O.V. Hunt was taking photographs of some of the workers posing on an I-beam on top of the Tutwiler Hotel during its construction, he took the opportunity to climb aboard the girder himself to get an unparalleled view of Twentieth Street below. This black and white photograph, likely made by his assistant, documents the occasion.

Black and white photograph of pioneer pilot Edmund Heth and commercial photographer O.V. Hunt with his box camera in an early biplane at the Alabama State Fairgrounds. It was not unusual for Hunt to try daring ways to obtain unique photographs, such as from a rock in the middle of a stream or on an I-beam suspended above Twentieth Street, North.
